A Lesson from Kids
Who, in their multitudes, play
in the sun and learn always
in the sun
Who have no sophistication and therefore
no folly
Who when they feel so inclined
will rage, howl, bawl
But are mostly quite content
with the complexities of colour,
movement
the intricacies of climbing and sliding and catching
and throwing; their toys once thrown
they easily forgive, forget and hope
most reasonably, expect, their mistakes made,
to have no grudge remembered
against their pure
impetuous
spontaneity.

But what lesson can they teach
to the responsible cautious
We
whose fears are justifiable
as anything is justifiable
to the rational mature
I
whose love is tempered
whose life is tainted?
