My work as a “critic-at-large” – theatre, literature and fine arts reviews, opinion pieces and the like – has appeared in The Weekender and various other newspapers (including The Sunday Independent, The Mail & Guardian, The Sunday Times/The Times, Business Day and the Financial Mail). I was given the English Academy of Southern Africa's Thomas Pringle Award for a portfolio of reviews published in 2007.

I also wrote regularly for The Weekender's "food and travel" pages and have since contributed travel articles to magazines such as Signature (Diner's Club), Sawubona, Travel Ideas, Diversions, Explore SA and Mango Juice, as well as to the websites mediaclubsouthafrica.com and iafrica.com.
